Pacquiao hits Marcos on drugs
Sen. Manny Pacquiao on Thursday painted a grim scenario of a win by the late dictator’s son, Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
At a press briefing on Thursday at the Iloilo City Hall following his courtesy call on Mayor Jerry Treñas, Pacquiao claimed that Marcos was only being projected as the front-runner in the presidential race by drug lords whose trade had been weakened by President Rodrigo Duterte’s deadly war against narcotics.
He maintained that he had nothing personal against Marcos, but people should be made aware of the possibilities should the late dictator’s son be voted into office.
Pacquiao claimed that the Marcoses’ return to power could mean the obliteration of the ill-gotten wealth and tax cases against the family.
“They want to return [to power], why? First, they would be cleared from taxes. Second, and this is their real goal I can see, all disputed properties, gold deposits, all that could be wiped clean and transferred to their personal accounts,” he said in Filipino.
