NBI files raps vs mom, Nigerian, 2 others for selling child to pay off e-sabong debt
MANILA, Philippines—The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday filed before the Department of Justice criminal complaints against four people including the mother of a child who was sold for P45,000 to pay off a debt due to e-sabong.
Aside from the mother, facing complaints for Kidnapping, Human Trafficking (Republic Act 9208) and violation of the Anti-Child Abuse Law (RA 7610) are Imelda Malibiran, Ifeanyi Okoro alias Maxwell Bright from Nigeria, and Kristine Joyce Esdrelon who remains at large.
The baby was rescued in Laguna and is currently under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
