Did you know:Blessed Pedro Calungsod

Blessed Pedro Calungsod was beatified by Pope John Paul II on March 5, 2000, with 43 other martyrs in Rome. A lay catechist, he died while conducting missionary work in Guam on April 2, 1672. He was struck by a spear and his skull split by a machete blow. His body was later thrown into the sea.  The Vatican announced that Calungsod would be canonized on Oct. 21 this year, making him the country’s second Catholic saint.
