PDP-Laban in QC backs Joy Belmonte’s reelection for mayor
MANILA, Philippines — The PDP-Laban Quezon City council on Tuesday announced their support to the reelection bid of Mayor Joy Belmonte.
The political party said their decision to endorse Belmonte was “unanimously agreed” among their members.
They cited Quezon City’s “improvement, growth, and achievements” under Belmonte’s leadership.
“The gains and progress championed by her leadership [are] at the risk of total regress unless it is ascertained that she is re-elected and her leadership qualities and traits will continually push the development of Quezon City,” the PDP-Laban Quezon City council said in a statement.
As the local PDP-Laban chapter endorsed Belmonte, the national PDP-Laban faction led by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi and backed by President Rodrigo Duterte endorsed the presidential bid of Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who is backing the mayoral candidacy of partylist Rep. Mike Defensor, the rival of Belmonte in the Quezon City mayoralty race.
