Alleged drug pusher slain in Quezon buy-bust operation

A suspected drug pusher was shot and killed in an alleged encounter with police in Tiaong town in Quezon province on Monday afternoon, report said Tuesday.

LUCENA CITY – A suspected drug pusher was shot and killed in an alleged encounter with police in Tiaong town in Quezon province on Monday afternoon, report said Tuesday.

Quezon police said that Wencel Solis, 48, was slain during a buy-bust operation in Barangay (village) Talisay around 5:55 p.m.

Report said the suspect sensed that he was dealing with an undercover cop during the transaction.

Solis reportedly ran, pulled out a gun, and shot at the team of anti-illegal drugs operatives but missed his targets.

The police returned fire and hit Solis who sustained bullet wounds. He was taken to Candelaria District Hospital in neighboring Candelaria town but died along the way.

The police reportedly found a caliber .38 gun loaded with four empty shells and one live bullet from the slain suspect.

Authorities also recovered from Solis five plastic sachets of shabu (crystal meth) worth P35,496 in the street market.
