Duterte appoints Andanar as acting presidential spokesman
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has named Presidential Communications (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar as acting presidential spokesman.
Andanar’s appointment was stated in an advisory issued by Malacañang on Tuesday.
His appointment came after Karlo Nograles, the previous Cabinet Secretary and acting spokesman, was appointed and took his oath as the new chairman of the Civil Service Commission on Monday.
Andanar is set to hold his first Palace briefing on Tuesday with Undersecretary Rosemarie Edillon of the National Economic and Development Authority.
Andanar served as the PCOO chief in 2016 when Duterte took office. Prior to his appointment, he served as a television news anchor and radio commentator.
