Active COVID-19 cases among Central Luzon cops drop to zero
OLONGAPO CITY—The remaining four virus-infected policemen in Central Luzon have already recovered from COVID-19, bringing down to zero the active infections among the personnel of Police Regional Office 3, local data showed on Friday, Feb. 18.
It was the first time that PRO3 registered zero active COVID-19 cases this year and came a month after a surge in infections. This week, PRO3 logged zero daily new COVID-19 cases four times.
This year, PRO3’s active cases peaked at 470 on Jan. 17 and while its highest daily tally of new infections was at 94 on Jan. 12.
Since the pandemic struck in 2020, a total of 3,666 policemen, including non-uniformed personnel, were infected with COVID-19. Of this figure, at least 3, 642 have already recovered from the viral disease.
PRO3’s COVID-19 death toll still stood at eight with no new fatalities in recent weeks.
