Body of judge found floating off Ilocos Sur coast
LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — The body of a trial court judge was found floating at sea in Sabangan village, Sinait town, Ilocos Sur province on Thursday (Feb. 17) morning in an apparent drowning, police said.
Authorities identified the victim as Geraldine Ramos del Rosario, 43, who was the presiding judge of Metropolitan Trial Court in Sinait.
Sinait police said Del Rosario’s body was found floating around 7 a.m. by a fisherman in Sabangan.
Initial investigation conducted by the police revealed that Del Rosario left their home around 4 a.m. that day as captured by a security camera.
Citing accounts from her family members, police said Del Rosario would usually go out of their house early in the morning to jog in the beach area and to swim afterwards.
Police said the judge was rushed to Ilocos Sur District Hospital in the town but was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors.
