PH shoots past 61 million individuals fully vaccinated vs COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines —  Over 61 million Filipinos have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19. Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., the national vaccine manager, said on Monday in the weekly taped “Talk to the People” briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte.

Galvez, the chief implementor of the National Task Force Against COVID-19, said that the government had administered 131.7 million doses:

• 61,449,151 for second doses (which complete the vaccination)
• 61,138,233 for first doses

Meanwhile, 9,071,666 individuals have already gotten their booster shots.

“Many experts say that we need boosters because after three months or four months our vaccine starts to wane,” Galvez said in Filipino.

He also enumerated that this total number of vaccinated individuals includes 8,073,904 adolescents aged 12 to 17 who had already been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and another 9,313,797 had the first dose.

Meanwhile, the recently held vaccination for children aged 5 to 11  totaled 100,370 as of Feb. 14.

Ten regions nationwide have now fully vaccinated more than 70 percent of their target population:

• Metro Manila — 114%
• Cagayan Region — 86.40%
• Central Luzon — 83.58%
• Cordillera Administrative Region — 82.51%
• Calabarzon — 79.77&
• Western Visayas — 79.09%
• Zamboanga Peninsula — 70.83%
• Northern Mindanao — 74.68%
• Davao Region 11 — 74.72%
• Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao — 28.02%
