Duque shares ‘healthy habits for the heart’ on V Day

MANILA, Philippines — Health Secretary Francisco Duque III shared on Monday some “healthy habits for the heart” — one of which was a call for couples to practice safe sex, particularly those celebrating Valentine’s Day.

“Especially now on this day of heart, it’s necessary to wear a condom so that you won’t get HIV/AIDS, gonorrhea, or other sexually transmitted diseases,” Duque said during the weekly taped “Talk to the People” briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte.

“We also don’t want unwanted pregnancies. So protection is really needed,” he added.

  • exercising more and eating right
  • observing cleanliness
  • getting vaccinated
  • avoiding smoking, drinking alcohol, and taking illegal drugs
  • caring for one’s self and others
  • doing no harm and putting safety first
