PRO-7 considers Digal as Mandaue police chief

/ 07:09 AM March 03, 2012

Senior Supt. Noel Gillamac said it’s time for him to leave his post as chief of the Mandaue City police so he can move on for career advancement even though city officials want him to stay.

Among the candidates being considered for the position are Senior Supt. Erson Digal, according to Chief Supt. Marcelo Garbo, regional police director.

Garbo said it was the prerogative of the City Council and mayor to ask Camp Crame to retain Gillamac because of his good performance during his two-year tour of duty. Since Mayor Jonas Cortes hasn’t chosen a replacement yet, the Senior Officer Placement Board was tasked to find qualified officials.

Gillamac, who ended his two-year stint in Mandaue last Jan. 12, told reporters he looked forward to stepping up to a higher position. His next assignment will depend on his superior, Garbo, he said.
