Mormons donate goods to NegOr quake victims
AROUND 6,000 families will benefit from the donations extended by the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or The Mormon Church for the earthquake victims in Negros Oriental.
Members gathered at the Lahug chapel in Salinas Drive starting last Tuesday to help repack truck loads of rice and canned goods.
Each pack contains several kilos of rice, noodles, soap and assorted canned goods.
Rhea Bautista, Public Affairs director of the church, said they also did this similar activity before for the thousands of people victimized by the flooding in Manila brought by typhoon “Ondoy” and for the victims of typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan cities.
Meanwhile, an open house and exhibit was held last Tuesday until Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City as part of the church’s 50th anniversary in the country.
The church also offers free “Family History Genealogical Research” at SM and Ayala Malls for everyone to trace their family roots. /CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MEN DOZA
