Wah! Weekend traffic jams ahead due to road repairs
Leave early for appointments or stock up on endless patience behind the wheel this weekend.
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) on Thursday advised the public to expect traffic buildup along 20 major thoroughfares in Metro Manila due to repair and maintenance works starting at 10 p.m. Friday till 4 a.m. on Monday.
The agency said it would be ready to hear out “any concern, complaint, suggestion, recommendation (or) observation” through hotlines 165-02 or 536-3477. For text messages, the format is “DPWH (space) message,” then send to 2920.
The DPWH said the affected areas include the following:
The southbound lane of Aurora Boulevard in Pasay City from Edsa to Aurora Bridge;
A portion of New Panaderos Street in Sta. Ana, Manila, from Sta. Ana Church to Lamayan Street;

Article continues after this advertisementAlong Edsa, the southbound third lane from West Avenue to Quezon Avenue, and the northbound fifth lane from Corregidor to Fema Road;
On the northbound lane of Edsa going to Cubao, the first lane from the sidewalk between Gate 3 and Gate 2 of Camp Aguinaldo.
Still on Edsa, on the northbound lane going to Monumento, the third lane from the center island (between F. Aguilar and Tirona Street), the fourth lane from center island (between Don Vicente Ang and Evangelista Street), and the fifth lane (between Arellano and M. Ponce).
In Quezon City, the eastbound lanes of Batasan (from IBP to San Mateo Road);
Aurora Boulevard, the portion from 15th Avenue to 20th Avenue
N. Domingo Street, the stretch from Banahaw Street to Balete Drive;
A portion of Boni Serrano Avenue;
Aurora Boulevard going to Edsa, first lane from sidewalk, between Driod and C. Benitez Street;
In Makati City, portions of Chino Roces Avenue (formerly Pasong Tamo), between Makati Diversion Channel and Edsa;
Gil Puyat Avenue, between South Superhighway and Dian Street;
In Navotas, C-3 Road from the corner of North Bay Boulevard going to R-10 Road;
In Manila, parts of Blumentritt Street from Maria Clara to Laon-Laan; Reposo Street and P. Casal Street;
In Pasig City, sections of Manila East Road.
