COVID-19 hits 68 residents, workers in Subic Freeport

SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Sixty-eight new cases of COVID-19 were registered here, raising to 101 the active cases among free port workers, residents, and employees of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
In an advisory on Wednesday, the SBMA said among those infected are 54 free port residents, eight guests or transient workers, and six government employees.
The youngest among the new virus-infected patients is a 1-year-old male free port resident while the oldest is a 54-year-old female resident.
Most of the patients experienced mild COVID-19 symptoms and have been quarantined, the SBMA said, adding that contact tracing was already underway.
On the same day, 16 free port residents and SBMA employees had been cleared of COVID-19.
Article continues after this advertisementSince the pandemic struck in 2020, the free port has already registered at least 720 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 584 recoveries and 12 deaths.
