Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo down as 84 patients recover

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo City has breached the 600-mark this week although over 80 infected patients have already recovered from the viral disease on Tuesday (Jan. 18) alone. | PHOTO: Photo by Joanna Rose Aglibot

OLONGAPO CITY Eighty-four patients here have been cleared from COVID-19, bringing down the active infections in the city to 604, data showed on Tuesday.

According to the local COVID-19 task force, only 31 new cases were added to the city’s tally on the same day. Previously, the city had 657 active COVID-19 cases.

The new virus-infected patients are 23 to 85 years old and most of them have been fully vaccinated against the virus, the task force said.

So far, at least 5,262 recoveries were registered in the city out of the 6,186 confirmed COVID-19 cases logged since the pandemic struck in 2020. It reflected a 77-percent recovery rate.

No new COVID-19 deaths were added to the city’s latest data but a total of 320 fatalities related to the viral disease had been recorded here.
