GAPAN CITY, Nueva Ecija––Police in this city arrested Sunday at least 15 people allegedly involved in illegal cockfighting amid the ongoing quarantine restrictions enforced by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The suspects, who include a retired military officer, were arrested at a residential compound in Barangay Pambuan in this city.
Recovered during the operation were live and dead fighting cocks, bet money worth P3,340, and a piece of gaff, a metal spur for gamecock, said Lt. Col. Alexie Desamito, city police chief.
