Eleazar in isolation after testing positive for COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Guillermo Eleazar, a former Philippine National Police chief who is running for senator in May 2022, said on Tuesday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.
“Tonight, I received the RT-PCR result which showed that I am infected with the coronavirus for the first time,” Eleazar in a statement. “I am asymptomatic and will continuously observe the home isolation protocol of the Department of Health until I am cleared to go out.”
He called on the public to get their vaccination and booster shots as soon as they could to prevent the serious effects of COVID infection.
This came just days after a presidential aspirant, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, tested positive for the coronavirus on Jan. 7.
Eleazar is running for senator under Partido Reporma as part of Lacson’s senatorial slate.
