MANILA, Philippines — Active COVID-19 cases in the Philippine National Police have swelled to nearly 1,900 from just 11 cases two weeks ago.

Gen. Dionardo Carlos, chief of the PNP, who himself tested positive for the new coronavirus, assured on Monday that the growing number of PNP personnel infected with the coronavirus would not disrupt the delivery of police services.

Data from the PNP health service showed that there were 436 new COVID-19 cases reported on Monday, bringing the total active cases to 1,884.

Five new recoveries and no death were reported. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the PNP has had 43,603 cases with 41,594 recoveries and 125 deaths.
