DOH detects 571 more Delta COVID-19 variant cases
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health has detected 571 additional Delta COVID-19 variant cases in the country.
In a media forum on Monday, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reported that the recent sequencing is composed of 629 samples.
Of the 629 samples sequenced, 571 were positive of the Delta variant, 55 had no lineages, one each are Alpha and Beta variant cases, and one with another lineage not disclosed.
These additional samples raised the tally of Delta variant cases to 7,848, Beta variant cases to 3,630, and Alpha variant cases to 3,168.
With the latest run, the country has sequenced a total of 19,305 samples with lineages.
According to Vergeire, the Omicron variant, a variant of concern tagged by the World Health Organization, has not yet entered the country.
