THE head of the provincial planning and development will assume double duty as chief of the Provincial Engineering Office.

Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia said she assigned Provincial Planning officer Engr. Adolfo Quiroga as concurrent Provincial Engineer last week after the officer in charge declined to assume the post.

“Quiroga is working closely with acting Provincial Engr. Eulogio Pelayre,” she told reporters yesterday. She said she intended to appoint Pelayre as full-time chief since the start of her first term but he refused.

Quiroga, who worked at the Capitol during the time of Garcia’s father, former governor and now Deputy House Speaker Pablo Garcia, was previously assigned as provincial engineer.

“It’s better for Quiroga since he can tap both departments and produce results efficiently and speedily,” Garcia told reporters. Correspondent Carmel Loise Matus
