Blessel snaps Mawin’s run in MKBC
IN the battle of unbeaten teams, Blessel Enterprises got the better of Mawin’s Kitchen, 92-90, Thursday night, halting the latter’s four-game winning streak in the ongoing elimination round of the MKBC-2012 1st Conference basketball tournament at the Vicente Sotto Memorial gym.
The win gave Blessel the lead in the team standings with a clean 3-0 win-loss record.
Mawins led, 76-69 after three quarters behind Oliver Sanoy and former UC Webmaster Opie Abellana
However, Blessel outscored Mawins, 23-14 in the fourth to complete the come-from-behind win.
Mawins had the chance to snatch the win with eight seconds remaining but Arland Tulda missed his three-point attempt.
Kelvin Cinco and Glen Cabiluna led Blessel with 21 and 14 points, respectively, while Oliver Sanoy and Opie Abellana paced Mawins with 20 and 15 markers.
In the other game, the Radisson Blu Hotel barged into the win column after crushing winless Metro Bank, 77-66, for its first win in three games.
Metro Bank led, 22-21 in the opening period, but Radisson Blu dominated the rest of the way to seal the 11-point demolition.
Mark Apepe and Van Gubat led Radisson Blu Hotel with 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Erwin Racho and Lito Ocampo paced the Bankers with 15points apiece.
