DOH reports 4,043 more COVID-19 cases

Pampanga’s capital logs 113 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s active COVID-19 cases went up to over 50,000 again on Friday as the Department of Health (DOH) reports 4,043 additional coronavirus infections.

According to DOH, the 50,630 current active cases represent 1.8 percent of all the 2,779,943 confirmed COVID-19 infections in the country. Of the active cases, 74.1 percent are mild, 6.5 percent are asymptomatic, 10.71 percent are moderate, 6.1 percent are severe, and 2.6 percent are critical.

The DOH also reported 3,224 new recoveries and 44 additional deaths. With these additional figures, the total recoveries are now at 2,686,692 and the death toll is now at 42,621.

Aside from Friday’s additional cases, the DOH, earlier in the day, also reported an additional 3,439 new coronavirus cases “uploaded last September 29 to October 18” in the COVID Document Repository System (CDRS) “but were only pushed to COVIDKaya on October 27.”

Of these 3,439 cases, 3,415 are recoveries, two are new deaths, and the remaining 22 are active cases.

“This issue is continuously being addressed by DICT (Department of Information and Communications Technology) to generate and provide updated and complete case information,” the DOH said.

Meanwhile, 8.6 percent of 52,064 individuals who were tested last Wednesday were found positive for coronavirus. All testing laboratories were operational and were able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System, according to the health agency.

On hospital utilization, 50 percent of intensive care units, 37 percent of isolation beds, 34 percent of ward beds and ventilators are currently being used.

Thirty duplicate entries, including 28 recoveries, were removed from the total case count.
