PNP records almost 600,000 quarantine protocol violators in 12 days
MANILA, Philippines — Almost 600,000 quarantine protocol violators were recorded in the country in a span of 12 days, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday.
The total number of quarantine protocol violators in the country is now at 591,631 from October 16 to 27, according to the latest data from PNP.
Most of the violators broke rules on minimum public health standards, like wearing face masks and face shields and maintaining physical distance, with 472,946 violators.
There are also 93,897 curfew violators, and 24,788 non-authorized persons outside of residence violators who were out of their residence within the same period.
PNP said that of the total number of violators, 80 percent or 472,741 of violators were warned, 13 percent or 79,297 were fined, while 7 percent or 39,593 received other penalties like community service.
A fifth of the curfew violators was reported in Metro Manila with 113,602 violators within the said period, according to PNP.
