Over 2M COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in Ilocos region

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—More than two million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 had been administered in the Ilocos region, according to the Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday, Oct. 26.

The latest DOH data showed that at least 2,005,352 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been injected into priority residents and the rest of the adult population.

At least 67 percent of these doses had been used as the first dose, the DOH said.

Persons with comorbidities have the highest vaccination coverage, with 612,107 total doses administered.

The DOH in the region had also exceeded its vaccination target for the medical frontliners, with 173,466 given one dose and 140,229 injected the second dose. Ilocos Region targeted to inoculate at least 87,409 medical frontliners.

At least 597,988 vaccines were injected into senior citizens, with 315,445 getting one dose and 282,543 two doses.

About 586,483 vaccines were inoculated to economic frontliners or uniformed personnel.

At least 101,053 vaccines were administered to the indigents.

Dr. Rheuel Bobis, DOH COVID-19 focal person in Ilocos, said the region expanded and fast-tracked its inoculation program due to the “stable, frequent, and more vaccines” delivered in the past days.

He assured the public that their office had enough cold storage facilities to stock more COVID-19 vaccines to ensure no wastage.
