New LRT-1 trains arrive from Spain, Mexico; more to come — DOTr
MANILA, Philippines — More train coaches were delivered for the Light Rail Transit 1 to accommodate more passengers of the existing Pasay-Manila train route, and soon for the Cavite extension, the Secretary of the Department of Transportation (DOTR) announced on Tuesday.
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade said the management of LRT-1 has received the 12th brand new fourth-generation trains set, and these are now at the Baclaran Depot in Pasay.
Each train set consists of four light rail vehicles, which could accommodate up to 1,300 passengers.

The passenger train sets have destination signs up front, a digital system, and special areas for wheelchairs making them PWD-friendly, according to Tugade.
Article continues after this advertisementTugade said 120 light rain vehicles or 30 train sets coming from Spain and Mexico are scheduled for delivery until June 2022. It will be used for the existing system and the LRT-1 Cavite Extension.
