DOH logs 10 minor adverse reactions out of 9,928 vaccinated children vs COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Out of the 9,928 COVID-19 vaccinated children with comorbidities aged 12 to 17, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 10 adverse reactions which were not serious.
“’Yun pong mga reaction ng ating mga kabataan, mostly, were minor… Mayroon po kami naitalang sampu na nagkaroon ng reaction,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said in a DOH media forum.
(The reactions of our vaccinated children, mostly, were minor… We listed 10 children who had reactions.)
Three of the 10 children who experienced adverse events had allergic reactions, another three had anxiety-related reactions, and four children had minor reactions such as pain in the vaccinated arm.
“So far, wala pa ho tayong (we do not have any) serious adverse reactions that were noted. But of course, we are still monitoring these children,” Vergeire said.
The DOH will monitor the vaccinated children for the whole month to see if other reactions would occur.

The pediatric COVID-19 vaccination, which commenced on October 15, is considered as successful as the process was smooth, Vergeire said.
