LEGAZPI CITY—Close to P50,000 worth of fish caught illegally was seized from three haulers, who were nabbed Tuesday morning in a police checkpoint in Lagonoy town in Camarines Sur province.

Cops, who were manning the checkpoint, flagged down around 12:30 a.m. an Isuzu Flexi1 truck transporting 10 “banyeras” (fish tubs) of Yellowband Fusilier, locally called “dalagang bukid,’ which were illegally caught, according to Lt. Jaime Enciso, Lagonoy police deputy chief.

A technician of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), after inspection, confirmed that the fish were caught through blast fishing.
