PSG not securing Michael Yang — commander
MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Security Group (PSG) on Sunday said it is not securing Michael Yang, former economic adviser of President Rodrigo Duterte who was linked to Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corp. over allegations of overprice of medical supplies, which is now being investigated by the Senate.
“Personally, I do not know Michael Yang. I do not know his whereabouts, and definitely, no PSG personnel is securing him,” Colonel Randolph Cabangbang, PSG commander, said in a text message on Sunday.
Pharmally is a firm with only P625,000 capital that was awarded by the government with over P8 billion worth of supply deals for the COVID-19 pandemic.
Yang was linked to Pharmally after a video in 2017 came out, showing him introducing the firm’s officials to Duterte in Davao City. During the Senate hearing, Yang supposedly personally loaned money to Pharmally last year as the undercapitalized company struggled to pay Chinese companies for medical supplies ordered by the Philippine government, according to one of the owners of the company.
During an earlier hearing of the Senate blue ribbon committee, it was learned that Yang was at Dusit Hotel in Davao City.
