Historical revisionism possible if Bongbong Marcos gets elected – Isko Moreno

MANILA, Philippines — Historical revisionism may happen — particularly on the martial law regime of President Ferdinand Marcos — if the late dictator’s son, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., gets elected as president, according to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Moreno gave that assessment when asked about the issue by Karen Davila in Friday’s “Headstart” on the ABS-CBN News Channel.

Davila asked him he thought revisionism would be possible under the presidency of another Marcos.
“What kind of revisionism? History? they’re revising history?” Well it may happen because their feeling might be that they were oppressed [he used the word ‘inapi’] or that the accusations against them were too much,” Moreno said, speaking partly in Filipino.
“They’re entitled to explain themselves,” he added. “Yeah, it can happen during their time if given a chance.”
As to whether that would be good for the country, Moreno said: “Ah, that remains to be seen. But we know already what transpired before ’86 [referring to the People Power Revolution that ousted the elder Marcs]. The prices of goods, the debt servicing — in fact, if I’m not mistaken, there was a moratorium on debt servicing at that time. I was too young back then.”
“And then jobs were nowhere to be found,” he went on. “I think about six out of 10 had no job at that time — 84, 85 — nothing at all. The situation was really bad. That’s why the people created a stir.”
Moreno, who is running for president, made the rounds on social media for allegedly being in favor of the Marcoses, as the late dictator’s party, the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, urged Bongbong to run for president in 2022.
Last Wednesday, Moreno announced that he would be running for the country’s highest post, presenting himself as a candidate that would resolve issues quickly.
