COVID-19 cases in Aurora jump to 359
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––The number of active COVID-19 cases in Aurora province jumped to 359 after recording 90 new patients, its highest daily tally in more than three months, the provincial emergency operations center disclosed Thursday, Sept. 23.
The province also recorded 21 recoveries and five deaths on the same day. Two of the fatalities were residents of Casiguran town, while the three others were from Baler, Maria Aurora, and San Luis.
Local data show that the 90 new cases were Aurora’s highest since June 3, when the coastal province had 184 single-day cases.
The capital town of Baler recorded 25 new COVID-19 cases while San Luis, Casiguran, and Maria Aurora registered 21, 20, and 12, respectively.
Other towns with new cases include Dipaculao (6), Dinalungan (4), and Dilasag (2). Dingalan town did not have new patients on Thursday.
Maria Aurora has the most active cases at 104, followed by Baler (95), and San Luis (42).
The province had recorded 2,777 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 2,292 have recovered, while 126 have died. INQ
