Active COVID-19 cases in Olongapo hit record-high at 681
OLONGAPO CITY — The city’s number of active COVID-19 cases further ballooned to 681 as of Friday, September 3, its highest so far since the pandemic struck last year.
According to the local task force, 40 of these cases were recorded on Friday, which was also among the highest single-day records in the city.
Among the new cases is a 9-day-old baby girl from Barangay New Cabalan. It was not immediately known how the infant contracted the disease, which has also been affecting the city’s young population.
So far, the city’s total number of cases has already reached 4,054 but at least 3,163 of these were recoveries.
No deaths related to COVID-19 were recorded on Friday, keeping the city’s death toll to 210.
