3rd no-contact nationwide quake drill set on Sept. 9—OCD

MANILA, Philippines—A nationwide no-contact earthquake drill is set on Sept. 9, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The major earthquake drill will be held online for the third time this year to heed health protocol and help prevent the spread of COVID-19 cases.

The OCD is also holding a series of online seminars ahead of the no-contact drill to raise awareness on earthquake response.

On Friday, at least 20,000 netizens participated in a school-based disaster risk reduction and management seminar online, the OCD said.

The seminar, which was also live streamed through the Civil Defense PH Facebook page, recorded 350,000 reach and 100,000 engagements with 20,000 peak viewers.

It showcased discussions on the strengthening of the school sector in preparedness and resilience, the OCD said.
