Charges readied for gunmen in Talisay murders

Police said they will file multiple murder charges next week against the gunman in the Feb. 1 killing of of Virginia Sesbreño and her two companions.

Authorities aren’t saying yet who the suspect is.

Sesbreño’s son, Peter said the family will give a P70,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the gunman’s arrest.

Supt. Eddie P. Recamara, Talisay City police chief, said they will reveal the gunman’s name once the case is filed.

Virginia Sesbreño is the wife of lawyer Raul Sesbreño, who is embroiled in a lot dispute with settlers in barangay Lawaan, Talisay, whose houses are being demolished on order of the court.

Virginia and two family friends were riding an Isuzu pickup in the South Coastal Road when it was ambushed by two motorcycle-riding men.

The attack occurred on the first day of the demolition of houses supervised by a court sheriff in barangay Lawaan, Talisay.

Police said they believe the hostilities over the demolition was a a likely motive in the ambush. Correspondent Rhea Ruth V. Rosell
