Globe run to provide homes, protect environment and Cebu biodiversity

THE Globe Run4Home will be held in Cebu on March 25 at the Cebu International Center (CICC) in Mandaue.

Considered to be one of the biggest running events in Cebu this year, the event will be for a cause as it aims to help the devastated communities in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro that were affected by tropical typhoon Sendong last December 2011.

Also the beneficiaries of this running event will be the Cebu Biodiversity Conservation Foundation (CBCF), the Philippine Tarsier Foundation and Gawad Kalinga.

The running event was officially launched yesterday at the Sinulog Ballroom in the City Sports Club attended by representatives from Globe Telecom and representatives from the beneficiaries.

FEATURED STORIES

The race will feature a half marathon 21-kilometer, 15k, 10k, 5k and 3k categories.

The race route will traverse major streets in Cebu City, Mandaue City and Talisay City.

Registration can be done at the Ayala Center Cebu. Online registration is recommended for participants based outside Cebu. To register online, visit www.globe.run.com.ph/run

Registration fee is pegged at P700 for the 21k, P600 for the 15k, P500 for the 10k, P400 for the 5k and P300 for the 3k. All is inclusive of a race bib, race map and timing chip.

The 21k category will have a top prize of P15,000 while the 15k top prize is P10,000. Up for grabs in the 10k category is P7,000 for the first placers while P5,000 await the winners in the 5k category. The 3k winners will win P3,000 each.
