Zambales’ active COVID-19 cases rise to record-high 902

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES – The total number of active COVID-19 cases in the province rose to 902 on Saturday, August 28, the highest ever recorded since the pandemic broke out last year.

Citing the latest data, Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said that 48 new cases were reported.

Among them were two female healthcare workers, a 48-year-old nurse at the Subic Bay Freeport and a 33-year-old nurse in Castillejos town.

The youngest of the new patients is a 2-year-old girl in the capital town of Iba while the oldest is an 81-year-old woman from Botolan.

As of Saturday, the province reported a total of 5,880 confirmed cases, including 4,801 recoveries and 177 deaths.
