2 Bacolod patients survive Delta variant, but their homes are locked even after 14-day quarantine

BACOLOD CITY—A 6-month-old boy and a 45-year-old man in this city have recovered from the COVID-19 Delta variant.

City Administrator Em Ang, executive director of the Emergency Operations Center, said the two patients have completed their 14-day quarantine, but their homes have been locked down in compliance with Department of Health (DOH) protocols.

Ang said the two patients would be swabbed for COVID-19 test again along with members of their households. If their results are negative, the lockdowns would be lifted.

The City Health Office is conducting contact tracing of persons who may have come in contact with the two.

The DOH on Monday said 466 additional cases of the Delta variant have been detected in the country, with 52 in Western Visayas.

The DOH classified Bacolod and Negros Occidental as low-risk areas for COVID-19.

As of Monday, Negros Occidental had 79 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths, while Bacolod has 85 new cases and two deaths.

Bacolod City now has 919 active COVID-19 cases while Negros Occidental has 645.
