Go ‘still not interested’ in running for president in 2022

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Bong Go, earlier endorsed by Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi’s faction as PDP-Laban’s standard bearer in 2022, said he remains uninterested in running for president, even after President Rodrigo Duterte accepted the party’s endorsement to join the vice presidential race.
The Cusi-led national executive council of PDP-Laban endorsed through a resolution the tandem of Go and Duterte for 2022.
Duterte accepted this endorsement, party executive vice president Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles confirmed.
“I am still not interested,” Go said in a statement Tuesday shortly after news of Duterte’s acceptance surfaced.
“Mas mabuti unahin niyo na muna yung mga interesado na tumakbong Pangulo [It’s better first consider those interested running for president] ,” he added.
Go said he continues to focus on his work in the Senate.
“Bakuna muna bago pulitika [Vaccination first before politics],” he added.
