Cavite provincial gov’t offices closed until Aug. 15 due to COVID-19 spread

LUCENA CITY – The provincial government of Cavite has temporary closed several offices after a number of employees were infected with COVID-19.

“Please be advised that the Provincial Government of Cavite will be temporarily closed from 7 to 15 August 2021 due to the increase of COVID-19 cases among our employees,” the Provincial Information and Communication Affairs Department (Picad Cavite) announced on its Facebook page Friday afternoon.

“During this period, we will fully operate on a work from home arrangement.”

No details on the number of employees with active COVID-19 were provided.

The Picad – Cavite said the Office of the Governor, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management office (PDRRMO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development office (PSWDO), Road Safety Division, Provincial Jail and General Services office will continue to report under a skeleton work force.

“We recognize our accountability towards the people, and shall make all efforts to deliver our services under these circumstances,” the Picad – Cavite said.

Last month, Governor Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla temporarily vacated his office for almost a week after four of his employees contracted COVID-19.

On Thursday night, Cavite province was placed under a less restrictive modified enhance community quarantine (MECQ) from August 6 to 15 upon the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).

As of Aug. 5, Cavite still had 5,558 active COVID-19 infections, the most in the Calabarzon region.
