Active COVID-19 cases in Pampanga’s capital breach 500-mark

PampangaMABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––The active COVID-19 cases in the City of San Fernando reached 524, the city government announced on Thursday, Aug. 5.

San Fernando also registered 52 new cases, 16 recoveries, and two deaths due to COVID-19.

The wide gap between the new cases and recoveries brought the number of active infections to 524 from 490 in a day.

The city government said the latest COVID-19 fatalities include a resident of Barangay San Jose and another from Barangay Santo Niño.

It recorded 6,314 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 5,585 have recovered, and 205 have died.

Barangay San Agustin has the most active cases at 77, followed by its adjacent village of Dolores with 75, and Calulut with 49.

It was the first time that San Fernando surpassed the number of active cases in the highly urbanized Angeles City, which had 481 active cases as of Thursday. INQ
