Gov’t forces recover firearms, explosives in Camarines Norte

LEGAZPI CITY – Government forces discovered an arms cache in Capalonga, Camarines Norte Friday night.

Police Colonel Julius Guadamor, Camarines Norte police chief, said while police officers and troops from the Philippine Army’s  96th Infantry Batallion were on an intelligence operation, they discovered the firearms and explosives in Barangay Tanawan at around 7:40 p.m.

Recovered were an M-14 rifle with eight magazines, a high cap magazine for caliber .9mm, 133 bullets for M-14 rifle, 25 bullets for a calibre .38 revolver, eight bullets for caliber .9mm, 33 landmines, 700 meters of industrial wires and a 300 meter detonation cord.

The seized materials would be turned over to the Philippine Army, Guadamor said.
