DOH says death of 72 COVID-19 patients increase toll to 26,786
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported Monday the death of 72 more COVID-19 patients, increasing the number of fatalities nationwide to 26,786.
According to DOH, the country’s new coronavirus death toll takes 1.77 percent of the total 1,513,396 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic hit Philippine shores in early 2020.
DOH likewise reported Monday that active cases across the country stood at 47,561, the majority of which or 91.9 percent were mild infections while 1.9 percent were asymptomatic, 1.88 were moderate, 2.7 percent were severe, and 1.6 percent were critical.
The health department said 5,651 more people have contracted the potentially deadly disease.
