PNP records 70 new cases of COVID-19; total now at 28,860
MANILA, Philippines — The total number of COVID-19 infections among the country’s police force has now reached 28,860, as the Philippine National Police (PNP) recorded 70 new cases on Sunday.
According to the PNP’s health service, the police force currently has 1,417 active cases and 27,366 recoveries (66 new recoveries), as of July 11, according to its daily COVID-19 tally released on its Facebook page.
No new deaths were reported, keeping the death toll at 77.
The 77th death, however, was only recently recorded on Saturday and was a 41-year-old cop from Negros Occidental. He died due to pneumonia.

A total of 49,777 cops (22.87 percent of the PNP) have so far been inoculated with the first dose, while 15,272 are already fully vaccinated, according to PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar in a separate statement.
Article continues after this advertisementMeanwhile, as of July 10, health experts reported that the total number of infections in the country has reached 1,467,119 cases. This, according to the Department of Health, includes 49,968 active cases, 1,391,335 recoveries and 25,816 deaths.
