Plaza Sugbu eyed for paid parking
Downtown parking is premium and space outside City Hall may not be free for long.
Cebu City Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young said he wants to convert the open space of Plaza Sugbo into a pay parking area to regulate its use.
The vice mayor said most motorists who use the space aren’t transacting business in City Hall.
“Some of them are churchgoers while others are from nearby establishments,” Young said.
If the space becomes a pay parking area, nearby establishments, including the Metropolitan Cathedral and Basilica del Sto. Niño, will be forced to set aside parking lots for clients and churchgoers.
“That lot (in Plaza Sugbo) is for City Hall customers and those with business in City Hall offices,” said Young.
