Army says top Bataan communist rebel ‘Boy’ killed in clash
MANILA, Philippines—A man tagged by authorities as a ranking communist rebel was killed in a clash in Bataan province last weekend, according to the military.
He was identified only by his aliases—Boy or Randy.
But the military said Boy, or Randy, was the second in command of a New People’s Army (NPA) unit operating in Bataan.
According to a statement of the Army’s 7th Infantry Division, Boy or Randy was killed in a clash between rebels and members of the Philippine National Police’s Special Action Force at the village of Pinulot, Dinalupihan town last June 26.
Soldiers, the statement said, found an M-14 Armalite rifle, a two-way radio, bandolier, four long and short magazines with 147 bullets and a mobile phone at the clash site.
Government forces suffered no casualty, the Army statement added.
