2 million more doses of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine arrive in PH

MANILA, Philippines — Two million doses of Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccines or CoronaVac were delivered Thursday to the Philippines, the fourth batch of Chinese-made jabs to arrive this June.

The latest shipment of CoronaVac arrived via a Cebu Pacific flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport around 7:50 a.m., the National Task Force (NTF) against COVID-19 said.

Of the 2 million, the NTF said some 400,000 doses were procured by the City of Manila while the rest were procured by the national government.

The latest batch brings the total doses of CoronaVac that were delivered this month to 5.5 million.

On June 17, 1.5 million doses of CoronaVac were delivered. One million doses of that same vaccine were also delivered each on June 8 and June 10.

The Philippines has so far received a total of 16.2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines.

Apart from CoronaVac, other vaccines being used in the country’s vaccination program are those developed by AstraZeneca, Sputnik V and Pfizer-BioNTech, some of which were donated by the World Health Organization-led COVAX facility.
