Pagasa: Isolated rain showers, cloudy skies nationwide
MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau is tracking a weather disturbance outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
Meantime, most parts of Luzon, especially the western section, will experience rains on Thursday due to the prevailing southwest monsoon or “habagat,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The Ilocos region, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Cagayan, Bataan, Zambales, Occidental Mindoro, and northern part of Palawan including Kalayaan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers, Pagasa added.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.
‘Champi’
Tropical Storm Champi was spotted 1,970 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon, Pagasa reported early Thursday morning.
Article continues after this advertisementChampi, however, is not expected to hit land, Pagasa said.
Champi has sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 105 kph.
It is moving north northwest at 15 kph and could enhance the southwest monsoon over Northern and Central Luzon once it reaches closer the PAR’s northeastern boundary.
