Storm Champi not expected to affect PH

/ 05:10 AM June 24, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather service was monitoring on Wednesday a tropical storm with the international name Champi, which was still beyond the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

Champi was spotted 2,050 kilometers east of Central Luzon on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration and was not expected to affect the country.

Champi was projected to move closer to the PAR before curving toward southern Japan. But the southwest monsoon was expected to bring cloudy skies and rain showers over parts of Kalayaan Islands, Zambales and Bataan provinces, and Ilocos Region on Thursday.

The rest of Luzon will experience slightly cloudy to cloudy skies. The Visayas and Mindanao are forecast to experience humid weather with a chance of rainfall.
