Pagasa: Brace for hot Saturday with isolated rain showers

MANILA, Philippines — Hot weather conditions will prevail nationwide on Saturday, particularly in the afternoon, but isolated rain showers may still occur, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

Pagasa weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said the country will experience fair weather as there is no low pressure area currently being monitored within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility.

“Sa araw na ito, inaasahan pa rin natin ang maganda at maaliwalas na panahon sa Luzon. Inaasahan pa rin natin ang matinding init ng panahon lalong lalo na sa bandang tanghali at hapon, pero may tsansa ng pulo-pulo o panandaliang ulan na ating mararanasan sa araw na ito dulot ng localized thunderstorms,” he said in an early morning weather bulletin.

“Sa Visayas at Mindanao, fair weather o maganda at maaliwalas na panahon ang inaasahan sa araw na ito pero may tsansa ng biglaang buhos ng ulan dahil sa thunderstorm. Inaasahan ang matinding init ng panahon lalo na sa tanghali o sa hapon,” he added.

(In Visayas and Mindanao, we are also expecting fair weather but there is a chance of isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms. We are expecting intense heat especially in the afternoon.)

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is only affecting the extreme northern Luzon. Aurelio said the effects of the southwest monsoon are currently limited to that area due to the ridge of a high pressure area.

Metro Manila: 27 to 34 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 16 to 25 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 26 to 37 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 26 to 34 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 23 to 33 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 31 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 27 to 32 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 25 to 34 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
