COVID-19 bed occupancy rate in Olongapo City remains on ‘critical level’
OLONGAPO CITY — The COVID-19 bed occupancy rate of hospitals and other facilities here remained on the critical level as the city continues to record new infections, an official said.
In his weekly report on Friday, June 18, Mayor Rolen Paulino Jr. said these health facilities had already reached their maximum bed capacities for COVID-19 patients.
This could be attributed to the high infection rate in the city that led to more patients getting admitted to the James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH), the primary COVID-19 treatment facility in the city.
The JLGMH has about 80 beds allotted to COVID-19 patients.
The COVID-19 facility of Gordon College is also running out of available beds, Paulino said.
Paulino appealed to residents to comply with the minimum health standards to avoid the spread of COVID-19.
As of Friday, the city still has 295 active COVID-19 cases out of the 2,357 infections recorded since last year. INQ
