Negros Occidental to impose tighter measures to curb COVID-19 spread
BACOLOD CITY – Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson will issue an executive order on Monday to impose more stringent measures to slow down the spread of COVID-19 cases in Negros Occidental.
Lacson met with the Negros Occidental mayors on Friday, June 11, to discuss the call of the medical community for immediate action against the COVID-19.
The mayors agreed to strengthen border control between Negros Occidental and Oriental to prevent the entry of non-essential travelers, but travel between Panay and Negros will be allowed.
Lacson said the executive order will also require persons 18 years and below to stay home.
He also called on residents to continue observing the health protocols.
All resorts in the province will be closed on the Feast of St. John the Baptist on June 24, as well as on June 23 and 25, to prevent mass gatherings.
Article continues after this advertisement“The mayors agreed to keep businesses open but to limit customers to 30 percent of their venue capacity,” Lacson said.
Curfew will remain from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m., and the Capitol will continue with its four-day work week.
